I have been processed sugar/flour free since August and can truly tell you that it has change my life. I did it through FA (google Food Addicts Anonymous) and have lost 16 pds without one day of exercise. I am going to start exercising for 2009 and continue to stay sugar free especially knowing that others out there like you are also doing it. Thanks so much and Happy New Year.Barbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02946801232324134005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2743655253913703801.post-46670972009204704052009-01-06T14:45:00.000-08:002009-01-06T14:45:00.000-08:00Thanks for the encouragement, everybody! I couldn't ignore those of you who told me that you went without sugar and then thought that you could reintroduce it back into your diet slowly and with moderation--and then blew it..I will gladly learn from others' mistakes rather than make my own when it comes to sugar.

Suziam-
I have not heard of palm nectar...I am curious...

Emily-
Do you have any insights or tricks to going without sugar? Ways of making it easier?

I am also very interested in GI. I just learned about it last year. I think it is a very significant index for nutrition. My Year Withouthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17290085498074393110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2743655253913703801.post-77356229938442448332009-01-06T10:55:00.000-08:002009-01-06T10:55:00.000-08:00congrats! i just started reading, and can say that...congrats! i just started reading, and can say that i went through a lot of what you did last year as well.

i started a low GI diet last jan 1 and was a little more lax than you were (because i knew if i had to do it 100% of the time i'd fail once and then quit forever). but i know i feel 100000000 times better when i'm not eating refined sugar. my body just doesn't process it - and i get migraines when i do eat it.

so i'm with you this year - i have to go off the sugar totally again.

keep up the awesome work!!!imagesbyemilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01362951308606160597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2743655253913703801.post-42053126177677187462009-01-05T10:27:00.000-08:002009-01-05T10:27:00.000-08:00Way to go! Keep it up cause once you start again you triple the emotional trauma of quitting.
When I quit my hubby (A cop) said I looked like the guys going off cocaine for 2 weeks. I physically shook and felt like throwing up.
But now, since I've been though it, I can't get myself to do it again because of the fear.
If you just keep it up you'll be fine.Danahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06274281556640423657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2743655253913703801.post-34352112748896417012009-01-02T15:19:00.000-08:002009-01-02T15:19:00.000-08:00Yay, I'm excited for you!
